The generic installation guide covers every player. This page is the TiviMate-only path: where to get the app in Canada, how Xtream versus M3U actually looks in the menus, what the free tier already does, and when Premium is worth the one-time purchase. Hardware context is on Android TV and Firestick.

Before you start

• A compatible device — Amazon Fire TV Stick, Android TV box, or Google TV. Not Apple TV, not stock Samsung Tizen, not LG webOS.
• Your login — either Xtream Codes (server URL, username, password) or an M3U URL. Stable IPTV sends both on WhatsApp after you pick a plan.
• A stable line — 25–50 Mbps for HD. Ethernet beats condo Wi-Fi on hockey night — IPTV without buffering.

Install TiviMate and load your playlist

   Install TiviMate from an official store

   On Android TV or Google TV, open Google Play, search TiviMate, install the official app. On Fire TV, use the Amazon Appstore. Skip random APK sites; sideload only the publisher's own file if a store listing is missing.

   Open TiviMate and add a playlist

   First launch asks you to add a playlist. Choose Xtream Codes if you have a server address plus user and password — that path usually pulls VOD and catch-up more cleanly. Choose M3U playlist if you were sent a single URL.

   Paste the login exactly

   Xtream: host URL, username, password. M3U: the full playlist address. One missing character produces an empty guide. Copy from WhatsApp; do not retype long URLs.

   Wait for the EPG (TV guide)

   TiviMate downloads programme data after the playlist lands. Give it a minute on first run. If the grid is blank, open Settings → EPG and confirm the XMLTV source your provider included, then set the time zone to your province (Atlantic Time in Halifax, Pacific in Vancouver).

   Favourite the channels you actually watch

   Star TSN, Sportsnet, RDS, TVA Sports, CBC/CTV/TVA and your community categories so they sit at the top of the guide. Test a live sports feed and a VOD title before you rely on Saturday night.

Free TiviMate versus Premium

The free app already plays live channels and a basic guide. TiviMate Premium is a one-time in-app purchase (price set by the developer, paid in the store currency — often a few dozen CAD, not a monthly IPTV fee). Premium unlocks a fuller EPG, more playlists, recordings to local storage, and multi-view. Buy it from the app, not from a stranger selling 'premium cracked TiviMate'.

Canadian gotchas

• Time zones — a Vancouver EPG set to Eastern puts Hockey Night an hour off. Set the guide to your province. Halifax is Atlantic — see IPTV Halifax.
• Ethernet — TiviMate cannot fix a 2.4 GHz hop through two floors. Wire the box for Leafs, Canucks or Canadiens nights.
• Not on Apple TV — if the household is tvOS-only, use IPTV Smarters or another App Store player instead of forcing TiviMate.
