Broadband on the West Coast

Telus, the BC-based carrier, has pushed fibre-to-the-home across Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and Coquitlam, which is why so many Lower Mainland homes can stream 4K without breaking a sweat. The former Shaw cable network, now operated by Rogers, is the main alternative and remains widely available. Downtown, Novus wires many high-rise towers with its own fibre. Stable IPTV runs over all three; the streams are identical whichever logo is on your router.

In the West End and Yaletown, older concrete highrises can still lean on shared coaxial risers, while newer towers in Brentwood and Metrotown ship with fibre to each suite; Novus competes hardest inside exactly these downtown and Burnaby buildings. Rain-soaked winters keep Vancouverites indoors and streaming, so demand stays steady rather than spiking only with the cold.

Canucks, Whitecaps and BC Lions

Vancouver's sporting life centres on the Canucks in the NHL, the Whitecaps in Major League Soccer and the BC Lions of the CFL. Canucks broadcasts sit largely on Sportsnet, with TSN carrying league and CFL coverage; Stable IPTV includes both national feeds. The West Coast has its own rhythm. Eastern events start mid-afternoon here, so a chunk of viewing lands before the traditional evening rush, and the heaviest local load still gathers between 7 and 11pm as households settle in.
