Atlantic Canada does not share Ontario's Bell-versus-Rogers duopoly. In HRM the names on the bill are Eastlink and Bell Aliant, and that changes both the TV comparison and the peak-hour picture. Internet in HRM: Eastlink cable and Bell Aliant fibre

Eastlink is the regional cable operator across much of Nova Scotia, with a dense last-mile in Halifax, Dartmouth and the outlying HRM communities. Bell Aliant (Bell's Atlantic brand) sells fibre-to-the-home on a growing footprint and DSL where fibre has not arrived. Either carries Stable IPTV; you keep the internet and drop only the TV layer, the same playbook as our cut-the-cord guide.

• Eastlink — coaxial cable across large parts of HRM; plenty fast for HD IPTV, shared at the neighbourhood node in older peninsula blocks.
• Bell Aliant fibre — the cleaner 4K and multi-TV path where it is in the unit; still Bell-family billing and support.
• Rural HRM and the South Shore — mixed fibre, cable and fixed wireless; test a trial at 7–11pm Atlantic before you rely on a Saturday hockey night.

Peninsula heritage buildings and Dartmouth walk-ups often have tired in-unit wiring. If only one TV buffers, move to Ethernet or 5 GHz before blaming Eastlink — IPTV without buffering.

Atlantic Time is the sports catch

A 7pm Eastern Leafs or Canadiens start is 8pm in Halifax. That sounds small until you live it: weeknight games run later, the 7–11pm congestion window shifts, and a Toronto-timed streaming pass still plays on the clock of the rights holder. Plan ethernet for the third period, not just puck-drop.
